Alexandra M. Cohen
Alexandra M. Cohen is the President of the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation, the non-profit organization that she and her husband Steven co-founded in 2001. She leads the day-to-day operations of the Foundation that focuses its giving in education, children’s health, veterans, the arts and Lyme disease research.
Mrs. Cohen was born in Harlem, New York and grew up in Washington Heights. After studying Communications at New York’s Manhattan College, she worked in the financial industry until she married Steven Cohen in 1992. Since then, Mrs. Cohen has spent her time raising their family and focusing on their philanthropic endeavors.
Mrs. Cohen was named one of the "50 Most Powerful Women in U.S. Philanthropy" by Inside Philanthropy and serves on the Chairman's Council of the New York Restoration Project and is a member of New York University’s Tisch School of Arts Dean’s Council and of the Bob Woodruff Honorary Leadership Council.
Jeanne Melino is the Executive Director of the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation, where she is responsible for overseeing the Foundation’s day-to-day activities and providing general oversight of all its grant making decisions. Ms. Melino is also the Director of Community Matters for Point72 Asset Management, L.P. In her dual-roles, she assists both Point72 and the Foundation in fostering their relationships with their local communities through charitable endeavors, and creates opportunities for Point72 employees to give back and work with the Foundation’s grantees.
Before joining the Foundation in 2012, Melino was an Executive Vice President at Innovative Philanthropy, a philanthropic consulting firm. Ms. Melino refocused her career on corporate and foundation relations and charitable consulting after more than 10 years as a practicing attorney. Ms. Melino began her legal career as an Assistant District Attorney prosecuting felony crimes in New York’s Westchester and Suffolk Counties. She then joined the law firm of Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman & Dicker, LLP, and went on to become a Partner at Cozen O’Connor.
Ms. Melino received her BA from Manhattan College and her JD from St. John’s University School of Law. She is a Board Member of Domus and Achievement First Network.
Melanie Turchyn is a Senior Associate at the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation, where she focuses on the Foundation’s digital presence and charitable campaigns. She also works as an Associate for Point72 Asset Management’s Community Matters group, where she and her team are responsible for creating philanthropic opportunities for Point72 employees to give back to their communities.
Melanie is an active member of the Domus Junior Board and of the Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center Junior Board. She earned her BS from Pennsylvania State University, majoring in Energy Business & Finance with a minor in Economics. Born in New Jersey, Melanie grew up in Connecticut and currently resides in New York City.
Alyssa DeFranco is an Associate at the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation. She is responsible for overseeing all of the Foundation’s daily administrative tasks from coordinating grantee site visits to assisting in the grant making processes.
Alyssa is also an Administrator in Point72 Asset Management’s Community Matters group, where she facilitates all logistics for the Firm’s volunteer and charitable events and manages its Matching Gift Program.
Alyssa received her BA in Psychology from Rhode Island College. Born and raised in Rhode Island, Alyssa and her husband Adam currently reside in Westchester County, New York.
Jake Rath is an Analyst for the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation and the Community Matters team at Point72 Asset Management. He began his career in the Finance group of Point72 Asset Management, and joined the Foundation team in August 2015.
Jake sits on the junior board of Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center and actively looks for ways to expand his personal impact.
Jake graduated from Bentley University in 2014 with a BS in Economics-Finance. In addition to his passion for giving back, he is also an avid climber, snowboarder, and outdoor enthusiast.
